I saw it

Well, I finally saw him crawl this morning. The first time he did it, he didn't make it very far because I yelled and he flattened out like a pancake. Way to go big boy! (Sorry the video is sideways, I can't figure out how to rotate it.)

Meanwhile, Charlie decided today that he is now going to crawl on his hands and knees. He has known how for a while now but stuck with his army crawl because it was faster.

BIRTHDAY BOYS!

Happy birthday to my two precious boys. We went to the doctor today for their check up and everything is great! They loved riding forward facing in the car and seemed to like their real milk at lunch. Meredith went with us and boy was that helpful as they were both really squirmy. Here are their stats:

Jack weighs 26 lbs (88th percentile), is 31.25 inches (89th), and his head circumference is 47.5 cm (81st). Charlie weighs 24 lbs 14.5 oz (80th), is 31.75 inches (95th), and his hc is 46.5 cm (55th). These are full term boys percentiles (both are off the preemie charts completely now.)

This afternoon we are going to taste peanut butter!

I was hot?!?

A year ago today at just about this time I was on my way to the hospital in labor. (Thanks again Leslie for waking up your sleeping child to get me there!) I spent that night on steroids and magnesium trying to hold it off for as long as possible. And it worked (for a little while anyway), but boy was I hot. Who could believe it to look at them now?

Just like that old nursery rhyme ...

One little monkey jumping on the bed. Charlie pulled up in his bed today for the first time. He has been pulling up on his chair, the couch, the Superyard, any poor unsuspecting person that happens by etc. for a while now, but never his crib - until today. It first happened during their afternoon nap. They had both awoken too early. I was rocking Jack and he just pulled right up like he'd done it a million times before. Now he won't stop. At bedtime he did it 3 times while I was telling them their story. After I left the room I had to go back in 5 times to lay him back down. The last time he had his head down looking longingly at the bed as if he really wished he hadn't had to try one more time. (Obviously he hasn't figured out how to get down yet.) We caught him in action before our walk this afternoon. And yes, he really does jump on the bed.

Power T

The boys spent this past Saturday with my dad and stepmom. They bought them these really cute Vol baseball caps. They wore them for our afternoon walk today (we forgot to pack them for the park yesterday) and were so cute I just had to share.

At the park

I know it probably sounds ridiculous since the boys are almost one but today was our first day out at the park. We went with the playgroup from the church we've been attending. Meredith went with us and we all had a great time. The boys also got their first kids meal for lunch. They loved being outside and watching the other kids. Charlie did try to eat the mulch but otherwise it was just a good time. They loved the swings as you can see!

And then there were two

Free hands, that is. Here is video of Jack's newest trick. (Charlie is a ham and does not like for me to take the camera off of him, thus the fussing at the end.)
