A big anniversary

Yesterday marked 1 year since we brought Charlie home to join Jack and the rest of our family. Boy have we changed a lot since then.

Pumpkin Carving

Monday night we carved our pumpkin. We thought the boys would be really into getting messy and gushing their hands in the pulp. They were only mildly interested. Chloe, on the other hand, kept trying to eat the stuff. The highlight was Jack putting a seed in his mouth and making a terrible face just before spitting it out. I salvaged all the seeds I could and roasted them for the boys to try. Surprisingly they really liked them.

Busy, busy

So, we've been very busy. Since the boys started eating out we've been on a lot more outings. Highlights include the zoo, Silver Spoon (with several friends) and the mall.

They've also been enjoying the sandbox they got for their birthday (with only a few tastes of sand.)

And we finally got the playroom moved upstairs to the bonus room which means a lot more room to cruise around, lounge and play.

Surprise

When I went in to get the boys out of bed this morning, Jack was sitting up playing with his blankie. He has been working on this new skill for days and I was pretty sure he did it during playtime yesterday morning. He is very proud of himself and did a lot of practicing this morning.

A new dining experience

Yesterday the boys went out to eat for the first time. my aunt Julie was brave enough to go with us to Wendy's (although, to be fair she didn't know it was the first time when she agreed to do it.) They sat right up at the table and ate their chicken nuggets like it was no big deal. Afterwards we took their picture in the "Wendy" cutout they currently have as decor in the dining room.

A big weekend

Last Saturday we had the boys first birthday party. It was a huge success. The boys were great. I was just sure there would be a melt down at some point but there never was. They both really liked playing in their cakes and had to get a bath between cake time and present opening. They looked precious in their little blue Strasbourg outfits. We are still working on a time with the photographer for their official pictures but we got lots of good ones with friends and family. (Here is a picture of them with their great-grandparents.)

Then on Sunday the boys were dedicated. They did really well with no fussing at all. They were fascinated by the stage lights. I had to move the buttons on charlie's outfit the night before, and we (as in pretty much the whole family and some friends) spent the entire week before trying to find shoes that would fit on their feet. It was all worth though as they looked like little angels. This picture was taken on our front porch after the service.
